A fine Udon Thani morning
What a fine morning it has been. Sitting in the sala, enjoying a gentle breeze and the temperature around 23/24 degrees. A hot cup of coffee, working my crossword puzzle and watching the birds land in the yard to pick through the recently cut grass. The wife sliced up some thick slabs of French bread, made toast with jam and brought outside for me to enjoy.
Opened my laptop and checked the news and latest forum postings. Was thinking how cool it is to be sitting outside and have full internet capabilities with not a single wire, cable or electrical connection in sight. Amazing really, when you think back just a few years and the cumbersome attachments needed to log on to net.
The cooler weather is just a hint of the pleasant days ahead. I really like the Udon Thani cool, dry season. I become a bit more active, actually look for things to do around the house and yard and I’m a little more productive at this time of year.
It is times like this morning when I smile to myself and remember how fortunate I am to be here and how lucky I am to have a great home life with a wonderful wife. I sometimes forget all of the positives in my life and dwell on negatives, that in all honesty, I have little or no control over anyway. Yep, it has been a great morning in Udon Thani. I’ve got a feeling that the day may get even better. I need to do a little yard work. Have to put down a few pieces of sod where I recently removed some trees. Will have to go buy some sod and a few bags of topsoil..........Or maybe not.

yea, what they said..........life is good. little pie and tea w/family, looking out the glass bubble to the yard, like sitting in the park without the bugs and heat. though a nice breeze out there for the trees to dance to. too lazy to walk up to the sala, to take advantage of breeze and view, as need a good sweeping and cleaning. will wait for school to start tomorrow for that. the grass can wait too, as Ree tried her hand at it yesterday, and realized, it takes a little effort. quality time with little one before back to the grind for her...and...us, catching up on my LPOS butt. if i excel in anything, it's procrastinating.
a find thread with the morning discovery channel. lizard, bird and butterfly watching, and the damn cat sipping out of the waterfall, i guess our resident pet, no longer a kitten, and still alive, so fending for itself rather well  ....................

Very good point there Shado . Its very easy to take everything good in our lives for granted , and focus on the negatives .
On topic . I was up at first light . A little chilli sat on the terrace , had to put a tee shirt on .
Sat there with a nice cup of tea , looking out at the mist on the lake , sun trying to break through the trees opposite , my dogs chasing each other round the garden , stopping occasionally to play fight . Loving every second of it !!! .

Re: A fine Udon Thani morning
Yes Shado, today was brilliant. Usually by the time i have had Breakfast the heat is already putting me off yard work, but not today. Put a fence up which has been sitting there for the past 4 weeks to keep the chickens out of the vegetable plot - I have been asking for help to do it for a couple of weeks but always told 'next week'. It only took an hour and was a bit shoddy, but once up the 'help' materialised within hours and it was tidied up for me ... and then also the garden got a quick 'slash and burn' fix. will still need to weed but half the work.
Anyway, while part of the 'garden makeover' was under way dashed out and got some fish for the ponds and pilot fish farm - 550 fish of 6 different types for 450 baht - that would buy me about 10 fish in the UK. Also could have bought plaa shado and plaa kapong (barramundi) which you don't normally see - unfortunately stocking them at the same time as the other fish would have been unproductive. Wish i had the second pond for them, a future plan (you know, when we win the lottery).
After releasing the fish into their tanks and ponds, back to garden and spent the rest of the day there - being able to work through the afternoon a rare event. Trees pruned, another raised bed half done and with no bloody chickens raiding the garden every day can start planting soon. For once happy with progress in the outdoors.
Of course, always some imperfections in paradise - season cold, so now 5 times as many mosquitoes ....

Uh-uh this morning is shaping up nicely as well. Have put away a couple of cups of coffee and the wife is off to the fresh market. 23 degrees on the thermometer a bit earlier this morning. Still need to go get that sod and a few bags of topsoil. Nah, will go fishing instead. That is going to be the biggest decision I make today.
